Excellent Investment - Best Value Digital Camera Critique
After punishing this poor little camera all summer, I've got to say I am deeply impressed with it. The panorama option is also a phenomenal addition - I have some amazing sunset shots that look seamless thanks to the built in sensor (automatically lines up and takes the next 2 shots for you- all you have to do is move the camera and it does the rest).
In coastal regions, any non-clear water will almost ruin any pictures used with flash. Zooming doesn't really help for the above reasons. I love it so much! I like the panoramic feature of the camera and the multi shot capabilities.
We did buy a Squaretrade warranty, I'd suggest doing that if you buy one, it's cheap and will protect you for I believe 2 years. We had another Water proof camera but it failed after a year and a half. I added a 16gig memory card for the video recording aspect and I love it. I can record 5 hours and 50 minutes of 720p on the thing which is way nicer than the Flip that I was looking at. I shoot Canon (SLR and a point and shoot) so I knew I would be facing an adjustment, but I refuse to sacrifice image quality. The picture quality was awful, even in normal, non-low light, situations. I really made points with my granddaughter on her 18th birthday. She picked it out on Amazon and is using it at the beach. We used it on our trip to Puerto Rico and it was great. The underwater shots and video were great. High Quality camera! We bought this underwater camera for a trip to Mexico.
Excellent qualify, ease of use with intuitive controls and great pictures. The tap control is very handy when wearing gloves under water.
Well - it worked fine at the beach the first day - in the surf and on the sand - the second day we took it snorkeling - in less than 2 feet of water flashed a message saying "Lost Connection" - it then gave up completely. We did everything correctly, charged and loaded the battery at home - no sand, dust or obstruction to the waterproofing.
I am currently shopping to replace that camera for upcoming cruise and would not take a chance on the same brand. This little camera was bought as a replacement to our old waterproof camera that we left at the top of a mountain (Olympus Stylus 850 SW).
There are so many more disappointing things about this camera that it's almost not worth typing. It's still not working after 2 months now.
I highly recommend this camera. The fact that it is a factory reconditioned camera with full warranty at a fraction of the cost of a new one is just icing on the cake. I wanted a camera to take in snorkeling and also one that I was not worried about getting wet if caught out in a rain shower. I have a Canon DSLR, but did not want to spend hundreds more for an underwater housing.

If you read the manual on it and learn the Canon beforehand it's a pretty cool camera, but personally when I'm in the heat of the moment for an awesome shot I don't want to be fiddling with buttons and trying to remember how to get to whatever setting I need. leather electric recliner chair.
