The way to reproduce the problem is to take a towel or a slightly damp fingertip and gently sweep downward. It uses a standard SD card. The old version used a smaller version which meant I couldn't swap them out with other cameras (yes, we own several different digital cameras.) The camera is pretty great. There is so much packed into this point and shoot camera that you've got to sit down for about a half an hour to an hour and learn how to use it. It's not rocket science but there are some things you need to learn how to use. It took me 3 calls to tech support to find this out. Great camera because of its survivable attributes! It's highly recommended if it fulfills your needs.
It beeped 12 times and then shutdown whenever it was turned on. I am returning it to Olympus to get fixed but, when I buy something, I expect it to work out of the box.
While I haven't exposed it deliberately to any of these yet...I'll update once it's been initiated. I bought this camera for my daughter to take on her vacation. Not very "tough" it seems. Because it has no range finder, if you are out in the sun, the screen is almost impossible to see.
I received the camera I purchased 2 days after I ordered it and it was in the exact condition it was said to be in! This camera takes great pictures.
Most pictures were outside. Inside quality is average, but that is why I have my Canon Rebel XTI.
I returned this camera for a full refund after some slight issues with Amazon. Based on this issue alone, ("blade type shutter cover over the lens that slips behind the body on operation, I can see this getting stuck eventually") I would recommend - do not purchase this camera! I bought this because my wife and daughter both bought them when their previous cameras broke. I got sand in my previous Canon camera and it jams.
